Hocking Hills Restaurants: The Best Places to Eat Near Hocking Hills, Ohio

You’re wrapping up a long day in Hocking Hills. You’ve hiked past the Devil’s Bathtub and through Old Man’s Cave, taken more photos than you can count of gorges and waterfalls, and maybe even traversed the rope bridge to Whispering Cave.

Now, you need food. Good food.

Good news: good eats do exist at Hocking Hills. But, you’ll have to drive for a few minutes to reach them. Almost all of your restaurant options near Hocking Hills live in Logan, a town about 20 minutes to the north.

There’s one exception: The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls runs a restaurant called Kindred Spirits. This is right on the edge of Hocking Hills State Park, just a minute or two from Cedar Falls. The Kindred Spirits restaurant is intimate and the closest thing you’ll find to fine dining in the area.

Kindred Spirits a great spot for couples or smaller groups. And if you want to eat there, consider making a reservation in advance. Details can be found on the website here.

Hocking Hills Restaurants: Where to Eat

If you’re not eating at Kindred Spirits and you want to find some good food, then you’ll be taking a short drive into the town of Logan.

The restaurants in Logan certainly aren’t Michelin-star, but they offer the type of food you want after a long day: Family-run, large portions, served in casual settings.

Below, you’ll find the best restaurants near Hocking Hills.

Pizza Crossing

If this isn’t the best food near Hocking Hills (which it very well may be), it’s at least the best pizza. We like the barbecue chicken pizza, but everything is good.

Pizza Crossing is a classic American pizza restaurant: You’ll find things like Mexican, taco-style pizzas and chicken wings dunked in barbecue sauce. Pizza Crossing also offers pasta and subs, if you’re not in the mood for pizza.

There are plenty of spots to sit indoors. But if you’d rather eat elsewhere, you can order takeout or delivery. If you’re ordering delivery from the Hocking Hills State Park area, the driver will usually meet you about halfway, near Coffee Emporium.

It’s a 20-minute drive to get from the Old Man’s Cave area to Pizza Crossing. If you’re further south in the Hocking Hills area, it’ll take you a few extra minutes to get here. Call ahead to have your pizza ready by the time you get there.

Why you should go to Pizza Crossing: Cheese and sauce and meat on bread are the best way to finish a long day on the trails at Hocking Hills. This is a great place to bring the family, as there are plenty of options other than pizza.

M&M Family Diner

There’s no better place to grab a hearty breakfast or lunch near Hocking Hills than the M&M Family Diner. It’s about as classic as Midwestern diners get. And the food is exactly what you’d expect: Pancakes, french toast, chicken, potatoes, and anything else that fits under the umbrella of American comfort food.

The diner is open from 7 AM to 2 PM except on Sundays, when they open at 8 AM. Breakfast is served all day. And it’s a good thing, too, because bacon and eggs are arguably the best things you can eat before a day of hiking.

Why you should go to M&M Family Diner: Because you’re hungry and you want a simple, delicious breakfast. If you’re a Michigan football fan, though, you’ll have to brace for a very large amount of Ohio State Buckeye memorabilia on the inside.

Millstone Southern Smoked Barbecue

This is the only barbecue restaurant in the Hocking Hills area. Fortunately, it’s good. Meats are hickory-smoked for 15 hours-plus, and the menu is big enough that there’s something for everyone. The smoked meats on offer at Millstone are:

  • Turkey
  • Brisket
  • Chicken
  • Ribs
  • Pork

These meats are incorporated into a wide range of dishes at the restaurant, like quesadillas and mac and cheese. If you want to try all the meats, order the Combo Plate. You’ll get a sampling of all the meats Millstone smokes.

Why you should go to Millstone Southern Smoked Barbecue: It’s one of the most popular restaurants in Logan, and for good reason. On evenings, especially during weekends, it can get busy—so be prepared for a wait.
